10,097 soldiers, spouses cash responsibilities in Melaka

MELAKA: Commander of the Army, General Tan Sri Zamrose Mohd. Zain was satisfied with the commitment of the 10,097 members and officers of the Army and their spouses in the state, fulfilling their responsibility as Malaysians to vote early in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said that the early voting process was seen to be organized and there was no congestion at the seven polling stations (PPU) since they opened at 8.00 this morning.

He explained that, for example in Kem Terendak, those who go out to vote are by team and have certain times until the voting process ends, at 5.00 pm.

“I came down not to disturb but to see the early voting process so that it is coordinated properly and members do not have to rush to vote.

“I want them all to fulfill their responsibility to vote to choose the best government for our country,” he told reporters after conducting a survey at the National School (SK) Kem Terendak 2, Sungai Udang here today.

In a statement, a total of 10,097 officers and military personnel and spouses voted in four Parliaments namely Tangga Batu, Hang Tuah Jaya, Masjid Tanah and Alor Gajah.

For localities in Kem Terendak and Kem Sungai Udang, there are 9,570 registered voters consisting of 7,571 officers and military personnel, as well as 1,999 couples involved.

There are seven PPUs in Melaka, namely SK Terendak 1, SK Terendak 2, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Terendak and Dewan Borhan in Sungai Udang Camp.

The other three PPUs are Operations Room 96 Ammunition Center Depot (DPP) Camp Masjid Tanah; Dewan Sri Beruang Regiment 514 Territorial Soldiers and Training Center Room of Reserve Officer Training Team (Palapes) Universiti Teknical Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). – MESSENGER
