KUALA LUMPUR – The difficulty for some voters in getting bus tickets to go home to vote for the 15th General Election (GE15) is one of the inspirations behind the ‘Voting Reimbursement’ program.

The secretary of the Malaysian Islamic Youth (ABIM), Fazril Saleh said, starting from that, as much as RM40,000 was collected to make the program a success.

He said, the program that carried 198 passengers later got cooperation from other organizations such as the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) and Yayasan Sinar untuk Malaysia (#CorruptionBusters).

“A total of 11 buses are allocated to take passengers to 32 destinations.

“We do not require passengers to pay for it and it is free, if they want to pay, we just accept it,” he said when met by Sinar Harian at KL Sentral near here on Friday.

The program worked on by the three organizations was held at KL Sentral with the trip leaving on November 18 (Friday) and returning on November 21 in conjunction with GE15.

GE15 was held following the dissolution of Parliament on November 10 by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the EC set the nomination date for November 5 as well as early voting day, November 15 while voting day on November 19 involved 21,173,638 voters.

It also saw a total of 945 candidates including 127 female candidates volunteering to run in 222 Parliaments and State Assemblies (DUN) in Pahang, Perlis, Perak and Bugaya, Sabah.

At the same time, Fazril added, it is not impossible that the program will be carried out periodically every time the election takes place.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of #CorruptionBusters, Nurhayati Nordin when met at the program hoped that it would give some comfort to the voters in fulfilling their responsibilities to the country.

He explained that in less than 24 hours all Malaysians will go out to vote and it is a big thing for the future of the country.

“Please get ready to vote and vote for the candidate who deserves to hold the reins of government in the next five years,” he said.
