Dr. Sidek Baba died

SHAH ALAM – Educational figure, Professor Datuk Dr Sidek Baba died at 7pm on Friday.

The news of his passing at the age of 76 was shared by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).

My condolences to all the family members of the late Datuk Dr Sidek Baba, the recipient of the 2009 National Level Prime Maulidur Rasul SAW Award who has returned to God’s grace on 25 November 2022.

“May the deceased be gathered together with the Prophets, pious people, martyrs and muttaqin,” according to the department in a post on Facebook on Friday.

Sidek, who was born in Kampung Pulau, Masjid Tanah, Melaka, once held the position of Deputy Rector of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) for Student Development Affairs from 1994 to 2002.

The deceased who was a former close friend of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had fought together in the Malaysian Islamic Youth Force (ABIM).

Sidek also produced many books and articles in the local media.
