GE15: 31 investigation papers, four individuals arrested


KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 31 investigation papers regarding offenses during campaigning for the 15th General Election (GE15) were opened and four individuals were arrested on Sunday.

The Director of GE15 Operations of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said, seven investigation papers were opened in Perak, Kedah (five), Johor (four), Selangor (three), one case each in Kelantan, Pahang and Sabah, while one in Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak.

The first case involved a man arrested for pulling out a BN flag along Jalan Persiaran Pengkalan Timur, Perak.

“The complainant also recorded the man’s actions and made a report to the Election Commission (SPR) and the police. The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 4(A)(1) of the Election Offenses Act (AKPR) 1954,” he said in a statement. on Monday.

Hazani said the second case involved a man arrested after being suspected of being involved in a treasonous case of burning a political party’s movement room tent in Taman Mutiara, Batu Pahat, Johor.

“The suspect is believed to be drunk when the arrest was made and the case is being investigated according to Section 436 of the Penal Code,” he said.

He said, the third case involved a man arrested on suspicion of uprooting and cutting the Perikatan Nasional hanging from a tree in Batu Pahat, Johor.

“The complainant found that the party’s three hangers-on had been thrown in the drain and the case was also investigated according to Section 427 of the Penal Code,” he said.

He further said that the fourth case involved a man arrested for damaging the poster and flag of the Santubong Parliamentary candidate on the side of the road in Kampung Boyan in Kuching, Sarawak.

“A report has been made for further action and the case is being investigated according to Section 427 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Hazani said a total of 2,211 lecture permits were issued by PDRM on Sunday

“Four lectures without permits were recorded in total, namely three in Johor and one in Perlis,” he said.
