GE15: Covid-19 educates the people to be the front line

Dr Muhamad Akmal was an invited guest of the Last Lap Program titled ‘Realizing the Transformation of the National Health System’ hosted by Kamarul Bahrin Haron on Thursday.

SHAH ALAM – The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted changes to the country’s health system that each individual has a responsibility as the front line for themselves in matters of health care.

Melaka Health and Anti-Drug Exco, Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said, based on what happened then, the Malaysian health sector cannot rely on health personnel alone.

“It means that the time has come for us to train the people on the importance of taking care of their health, how they themselves can be the front line for themselves by doing their own health screening.

“Our people need to be educated on how to take care of their health and finally we can see how Malaysians learn quickly to form the health system not only with the Ministry of Health but from various agencies and also the people.

“So we see there are changes to give a positive impact to our health sector,” he said through the Last Lap Program titled ‘Realizing the Transformation of the National Health System’ hosted by Kamarul Bahrin Haron on Thursday.

In the meantime, he said, in an effort to transform the health system in this country, facilities for the people need to be upgraded.

At the same time, he welcomed the pledge of the Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, who wants to pay attention to the country’s Health White Paper.

“I agree if he gets the mandate again, and look at the White Paper because it is important to look in detail at the problems of the health system. Although our health sector is one of the best, there are still weaknesses that can be repaired,” he said.
