GE15: PN immediately looks for a replacement candidate for the Tioman state assembly

KUANTAN – Perikatan Nasional (PN) will soon find a new candidate for the Tioman State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat to replace its candidate, Md Yunus Ramli who died on Saturday morning.

Pahang PN chairman, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah said, the news of this death has been communicated to the top leadership of PN at the centre.

“PN will put another candidate instead. Since the seat in question belongs to Pas, then Pas will choose a candidate from their party.

“The election will be held as soon as possible, but not today because all parties are busy with the voting process,” he said when met by reporters at the voting center at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Talam here on Saturday.

Saifuddin had previously cast his vote at the school in question at 9.25am.

On Saturday morning, the Rompin Parliamentary Elections Officer, Datuk Ahmad Nasim Mohd Sidek postponed the voting process for the Tioman state seat after Md Yunus died.

This postponement only involves the DUN seat in question while the election for the Rompin Parliamentary constituency will be conducted as usual.

In the meantime, Saifuddin also expressed his sadness at the loss of the candidate and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.

“We at PN were shocked after learning that one of our candidates left the world when everyone was preparing to vote.

“This is a loss for PN because he (the deceased) is a good candidate and has potential,” he said.

Commenting further, Saifuddin who is the PN candidate for the Indera Mahkota Parliament said, PN will wait for the next process from the Election Commission (SPR).

“We are waiting for a decision from the EC on when the new date will be and what the process will be,” he said again.
