SUNGAI PETANI: Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad described the actions of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as speeding up payments Malaysian Family Assistance (BKM) as a move by Barisan Nasional (BN) to attract votes for the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said, although the original goal of the BKM grant was to help poor families, the payments made from November 15 to 18, which are a few days before GE15, seem to show their strategy of buying votes.
“The Prime Minister wants to help poor families, he wants to give money but why only until November 18, because GE15 is on November 19.
“So it’s all money, if you want to use the money you want to buy votes,” he told reporters at the Tea Party in Kampung Bukit Berangan, Kota Kuala Muda, here, this afternoon.
Yesterday, Ismail Sabri announced that the payment of BKM phase four scheduled for next December will be accelerated on November 15.
The payment will be credited to the recipient’s bank account in stages and is expected to be completed by November 18.
He said the decision to accelerate the payment was to help the recipients face the North East Monsoon (MTL) which is expected to start in mid-November. – MESSENGER
