Losing confidence, MCA urged Ahmad Zahid to resign

SHAH ALAM – MCA asserted that the party has lost confidence in the leadership of BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

MCA Secretary General, Datuk Chong Sin Woon said, Ahmad Zahid needs to give up the position of BN chairman in an honorable manner to make way for a new leader to take over the leadership of BN and thus determine the direction of the party.

“At the same time, MCA is of the opinion that the acting BN Chairman should call the Supreme Council Meeting as soon as possible,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

The 15th General Election (GE15) saw BN’s worst performance in history by only winning 30 seats and failing to defend the party’s stronghold.

In the meantime, Sin Woon also asserted that no party has the right to represent BN to negotiate with any political party without a mandate from the coalition’s Supreme Council.

He also said that MCA was also disappointed with Ahmad Zahid’s decision to postpone the BN Supreme Council Meeting scheduled for tonight.

“In the country’s political situation which is still unstable and uncertain after GE15, the need for a Supreme Council Meeting is very urgent to discuss the latest situation and make BN’s decision as a bloc,” he said.
