PRODUCTION Malaysian natural rubber decreased 5.9 percent to 35,460 tons in September 2022 from 37,666 tons recorded for August 2022, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

“Malaysia’s natural rubber production in September 2022 is mainly contributed by the smallholder sector at 87.9 percent compared to the estate sector at 12.1 percent,” according to DOSM in a statement on Thursday.
In addition, the total natural rubber stock in September 2022 decreased by 5.7 percent to 198,659 tons from 210,768 tons in August 2022.
DOSM added that rubber processing factories accounted for 90.7 percent of the final stock, followed by rubber consumer factories (9.2 percent) and rubber estates (0.1 percent).
The department informed that Malaysia’s natural rubber exports amounted to 54,542 tonnes in September 2022, down 9.4 percent from the 60,170 tonnes recorded in August 2022.
“China continues to remain the main destination for natural rubber exports, amounting to 46.5 percent of the total exports in September 2022, followed by Germany (6.1 percent), Brazil (4.0 percent), Iran (3.8 percent) and the United States (3.1 percent),” he explained. .
According to DOSM, a comparative analysis of monthly average prices shows that concentrated latex recorded a decrease of 7.4 percent (476.76 sen per kilogram in September 2022; 514.73 sen per kilogram in August 2022).
Scrap prices fell by 12.6 percent (465.86 sen per kilogram in September 2022; 533.29 sen per kilogram in August 2022).
Meanwhile, the performance of the third quarter of 2022 showed that natural rubber production increased by 48.7 percent to 110,969 tons from 74,635 tons in the second quarter of 2022, the department added.
