PLAYER controversy, Cristiano Ronaldo has set his sights on leading Portugal to win the 2022 World Cup ahead of the prestigious tournament kicking off next week.

However, he believes that success can be achieved because Portugal is lined up with strong players who are able to perform brilliantly in Qatar.

However, the Portuguese captain is aware that it will not be an easy task to win the trophy as he has to overcome France, Spain, Argentina, Germany and Brazil.

“I am quite confident and have high hopes. We have a great coach and a great generation of players.

“I’m looking forward to an amazing World Cup. It will be a difficult tournament, indeed difficult, but everything is possible and of course, we will compete,” he said.

Ronaldo said this when interviewed by Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

The 37-year-old star revealed that Qatar 2022 could be his last appearance at the World Cup as he will retire at the age of 40.

“I may play two or maximum three more years. I want to retire at 40, it’s still a good age.

“But I’m not sure. There are times when you plan something in life and as I said, life is dynamic,” said Ronaldo.
