Solve the issue of the second generation Felda house immediately

DUNGUN: Not expecting ringgit money and luxury development, residents in Felda Kertih 2 and 3 near here, just want the new government given the mandate after the 15th General Election (GE15) to solve the second generation housing issue in Felda.

One of the settlers, Mad Nor Othman, 70, said it was understood that the project to build 400 units of houses for the second generation in Felda had been approved, but no construction was done after GE14.

“Previously, when Barisan Nasional (BN) was governing, the project was approved and it is understood that a contractor was appointed. However, the project has not been implemented to date.

“The project site is already there and the earthworks have also been done. But it’s only a site and we don’t know what the real problem is,” he said when met by Utusan Malaysia after the Asnaf Assistance program at Felda Kerteh 2, here, yesterday.

At the program, the BN candidate for the Dungun Parliament, Nurhisam Johari took to the field to greet the people of Felda.

Another resident of Felda Kertih 2, Mohammad Yassin, 72, who is one of the 321 first-generation settlers of Felda, said that due to the lack of a place to live, many of the settlers’ children had to rent houses and sleep in their parents’ houses.

“At least we hope that one settler’s child from each family will get a second generation house as is done in other planned lands.

“I myself, have children who live with me because if I want to build or buy a house myself, it is beyond my means,” he said.

Meanwhile, resident of Felda Kertih 3, Daud Deraman, 69, hopes that the newly elected member of Parliament will also focus on the development of facilities in the Felda.

“As much as possible, we want kindergartens, public halls and mosques to be upgraded. The mosque in our village does not have loudspeakers, so it is quite difficult for those who live far from the mosque to hear the call to prayer,” he said. – MESSENGER
