The roof of the school was damaged in the storm in Rembau

REMBAU: The roof structure of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Abdullah, Kota, here was badly damaged in a storm this afternoon which also affected the school’s dormitory building.

Chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) Rembau, Mohamad Najib Mustafa said the incident was reported to have happened at around 3.30pm.

“The Public Works Department (JKR) has been monitoring the condition of the building for safety and repair purposes. At the time of the incident, there were no victims involved and only the roof structure was torn off and fell,” he said today.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the State Investment, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Action Committee, Datuk Dr. Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek said that the storm had caused severe damage to the roof of the dining hall of the female student dormitory and the academic building next to the school’s library.

“This damage has caused the students of the female dormitory to be temporarily moved to another building and it was finally decided to be able to go on vacation until this Sunday.

“This effort is to enable temporary cleaning and repair work to be carried out in an effort to allow this dormitory building to operate again starting Monday next week,” he said.-UTUSAN.
