‘This is what we want in the team’

Selangor FC DEFENSE Sharul Nazeem Zulpakar considered his first goal of the 2022 season a meaningful birthday gift and helped the Red Giants win in the first leg of the Malaysia Cup semi-final at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ).

What is more interesting, Selangor’s three goals were through ‘set pieces’ which at once succeeded in punishing Nafuzi Zain’s men with a 3-1 result.

For the 23-year-old player, this victory means more because Selangor managed to break Terengganu’s record of wins over them since 2019.

And these three goals to bring to the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium are very valuable considering that it will be a more difficult match in the mission to reach the final.

“I am proud to have won tonight and to be able to get rid of the loss to Terengganu but we cannot feel comfortable because there are still 90 minutes left.

“I didn’t expect to get a goal from a corner kick like that but maybe this is our luck to score a goal in a ‘set piece’.

“I want to thank my friends for giving 100 percent focus and fighting on the field because this is what we want in the team and Alhamdulillah I am too happy to be able to help the team let alone on my birthday,” he said.
