According to the Battle Creek Police Department, the accident occurred around 1.10 p.m. on Saturday in Battle Creek, Michigan

A driver was killed in an accident at the Battle Creek Air Show.

The incident happened during a jet-fueled semitruck pyrotechnic performance at the Battle Creek Executive Airport during the Fourth of July weekend air show.

According to witnesses, the Shockwave Jet Truck was racing two planes at speeds of up to 300 miles per hour.

The truck engulfed in flames and exploded as the parachute from the truck deployed.

The Darnell Racing Enterprise's show team includes the Shockwave Jet Truck, the Aftershock Jet Fire truck, and the Flash Fire Jet Truck

Several witnesses told tthat there was an explosion and then fire coming from a truck.

An investigation is being conducted by the Battle Creek Fire Department, the Battle Creek Police Department, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The air show has been cancelled for the remainder of the day while emergency personnel respond to the scene.
