AFTER GE14, the Simpang Renggam seat became the focus of attention after its incumbent from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Dr Maszlee Malik, was then appointed as Minister of Education.

Having a clear vision in formulating the direction of national education, Maszlee’s service with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) at that time,

however stopped at the end of 2019 following his decision to resign as minister.

He then returned enthusiastically as a candidate from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PH in GE15, however Maszlee’s path to retain the seat is now considered full of twists and turns.
